INCIDENT #034 · OSPF

No hello from the core

Medium20 minutesPro lab

The incident

Jacksonville office. Parallel three-site metro paths have cross-links at each stage, between independent client and service handoffs. Service reachability disappeared after an OSPF hardening change. Interface addressing is unchanged and the service uplink still responds locally. Investigate the two service networks from R1: 10.205.64.0/24 to 10.205.78.0/24 (TCP/443), and 10.205.65.0/24 to 10.205.79.0/24 (TCP/8443).

Your objective

Restore both authorized service transports and return reachability, including clients and service hosts in both halves of the primary subnet. Keep R4 blocked from both service transports, keep SSH blocked to both service subnets, and preserve monitoring between R1 and R5. Do not change physical topology or addressing. These are network forwarding checks, not application-level transactions.
