Terms of Service

PacketDojo is a network engineering education and practice service. Please read these terms, the Billing & Trial Policy incorporated into them, and the separate Privacy Policy. Account onboarding asks you to agree; we record the accepted version and timestamp. You do not need to buy a subscription to create an account.

Eligibility and account security

Accounts and paid trials are for people aged 18 or older who can enter a binding agreement. Provide accurate registration information, verify your email where requested, protect your sign-in credentials, and report suspected unauthorized access. Do not share paid accounts or impersonate another person. OAuth providers and Stripe also have their own terms.

Using the labs

Use the provided simulated networks for learning. Do not submit customer secrets, production credentials, personal data belonging to others, or material you are not authorized to use. Do not attempt to access other accounts, escape the simulation boundary, or bypass service limits.

Do not attack the service, scrape private content, redistribute premium solutions, automate abusive requests, fraudulently claim repeated trials, manipulate ratings, or use the service to infringe others’ rights. Authorized work is limited to the simulated lab environment, never a third party’s production network.

Your content and our materials

You retain rights in the original explanations and configurations you submit. You give us permission to store and process them to operate your labs, score your submissions, display results you elect to share, and provide requested assistance. Optimesh retains its rights in PacketDojo software, authored incidents, and educational content. Your account provides a personal, non-exclusive right to use the features included in your plan, not a right to resell or redistribute them.

Accounts and results

We monitor operational reliability, payments, and lab execution to provide the service. Optional product-improvement analytics is off by default and is a separate choice, not a condition of account creation or subscription. If enabled, aggregate usage trends help us improve challenges and understand where learners get stuck. The usage dashboard does not expose your commands, configurations, written answers, email, or identity. You may withdraw in Settings. Collection, access, retention, exports, and deletion are explained in the Privacy Policy.

You are responsible for your account and the information you choose to publish. Scores reflect the stated deterministic rubric and supported model behavior. Ratings are provisional. Results do not guarantee employment, production readiness, or certification by an external organization.

Interview rehearsals are unproctored self-practice using our authored incident catalog. They are not actual proprietary employer questions, an independent certification, or an employer endorsement. Disabling the app’s AI does not prove that no outside assistance was used.

Subscriptions

Free, Pro, and Pro+ features and prices are shown on the Pricing page. Paid subscriptions renew at the selected monthly or annual interval until canceled. Review the price and renewal interval in Stripe Checkout before paying. You can manage renewal, payment methods, invoices, and plan changes in the billing portal.

Worked answer keys and reference configurations require an active Pro or Pro+ entitlement; Free includes scoring and limited conceptual guidance. The eligible Pro trial includes three distinct answer keys. Viewing an answer key makes later submissions for that incident ineligible for competitive rating credit. Already-earned scores remain unchanged.

The Pro trial lasts seven days for eligible new subscribers and requires verified email and an eligible payment method. It automatically becomes the selected paid subscription unless canceled before the trial ends. The trial price, renewal amount, interval, restrictions, and separate payment authorization are shown before card setup. Full details are in the Billing & Trial Policy.

Referral credits

Optional referral invitations are governed by the Referral Terms, incorporated into these terms. Rewards are non-cash subscription credits, subject to verified payment, eligibility and anti-abuse checks. Accepting an invitation does not authorize a subscription or payment.

Cancellation and support

Cancel through the billing portal to prevent future renewal. Access follows the subscription's confirmed billing status. Account deletion cancels active subscriptions immediately and removes PacketDojo data. Contact us about billing errors or refund requests; applicable consumer rights are not limited by these terms.

Simulation and AI limits

Labs model supported network behavior from configuration. They do not provide unrestricted router shells or live equipment. AI hints can be incorrect and are subject to quotas and availability. The deterministic simulator independently evaluates the technical objectives.

Availability

We may maintain or update the service and deprecate challenges. Existing sessions retain their challenge version where available. We may restrict accounts that misuse the service and will provide a support contact for resolving access issues.

Suspension and ending your account

You can stop using the service, cancel renewal, or request account deletion in Settings. We may suspend access to protect users, investigate suspected abuse, comply with obligations, or address material violations. Where practical, we will explain the issue and offer a way to contact support. Canceling renewal and deleting an account are different actions; see the billing policy before deleting data you want to keep.

Important limitations

The service is educational, not operational advice or an assurance that a change is safe for a production network. Validate real-world changes independently under your organization’s procedures. We do not promise uninterrupted availability, error-free AI, a particular score, employment, or earnings. Nothing in these terms excludes protections or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Policy changes

We identify policy versions and will provide notice of material changes before they apply where required. New subscription checkouts require acceptance of the current version. Changes to prices or renewal terms will be communicated before they affect a subscription; the terms of an existing authorized trial are not silently changed.
